GET TO KNOW CHANEL OLIVE THOMAS: Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2017

Sweet and amiable, Chanel Olive Thomas was named Miss Friendship from among the 40 Binibining Pilipinas candidates this year. This lovely lady, who always has a welcoming smile, was also bestowed the Best in National Costume award that night, thanks to her intricate Muslim-inspired ensemble that comes with a stunning headdress.

A vision in pink on the night of Binibining Pilipinas 2017 Coronation at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, 26-year-old Olive was named the successor to Joanna Eden.

During the Interview portion of the competition, she was asked for her opinion on same-sex marriage that is already legalized in other countries. Her response elicited applause:

“As a Christian, I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. However, I do believe that everyone, every single person in the world deserves to be with whoever they want. And if they want to get married, that is fine,” she said.

So who is Olive beyond the Binibining PIlipinas Supranational 2017 title?

GET TO KNOW KATARINA RODRIGUEZ: Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017

She was a vision in light blue on the night she was finally bestowed a crown.
Katarina Sonja Rodriguez, only 24 years old, captivated pageant fans all over the country and even landed on top of unofficial polls naming the favorites to win a crown. She has now succeeded last year’s titlist Jennifer Hammond and proclaimed Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017.
Perhaps as a portent of things to come, Katarina gave her definition of a winner during the Interview portion of the Grand Coronation Night on April 30.
To this Business Management and Philosophy major from De La Salle University, winning is more about “the responsibility that comes along when you win and how you execute the job after you win. I think a winner is somebody who knows how to inspire others...”

GET TO KNOW RACHEL PETERS: Miss Universe Philippines 2017

Looking stunning in her lovely evening gown, 25-year-old Rachel Peters walked the stage on a wave of cheers and applause as her name was called in the last whirlwind moments of the Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night on April 30.

She nailed the live Interview portion with an articulate response that, in the hearts and minds of her fans, made her a shoe-in for one of the crowns among the night’s Top 15 finalists.

The Question: This week, the Philippines is hosting the ASEAN Summit. If you were invited to speak, what would have been your message to the leaders?

Her answer: “I believe that one of the biggest problems that our country faces today is divisiveness – in politics, in religion, and also in culture. And I believe the same across the world. So that is something I want to address. I believe that when people can learn to tolerate each other’s differences and respect each other’s opinion,” she said before loud cheers erupted, “then we will just be a stronger nation, and world.”

Standing next to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, who co-hosted the Coronation, Rachel seemed every bit in the beauty titlist’s league. That night, she became Maxine Medina’s successor, the new Miss Universe Philippines title holder.
